The aim – to study interrelation of hemodynamic parameters and neurohumoral status in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) with insulin resistance (IR) before and after the treatment with radon baths.
Material and methods. The study involved 32 patients with AH of II stage without diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance with body mass index up to 30 kg/m2. The control group consisted of 30 apparently subjects without heart diseases. Hemodynamic data were studied by means of echocardiography and tetrapolar chest rheography. Using radioimmunoassay technique the following parameters were determined in blood serum: plasma renin activity (PRA), aldosterone content, calcitonin, parathyroid hormone (PTH), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (Т4), triiodothyronine (Т3), insulin (IRI), cortisol, progesterone, prostaglandin Е2(PgЕ2), prostacyclin (PgI2), prostaglandin F2α (PgF2α), thromboxane В2 (ТxВ2). IR was verified according to Sago index not more than 0.33. The study was performed before and after the treatment with radon baths.
Results. In patients with AH and IR we observed significant increase of PRA (Р<0.01), cortisol (Р<0.05), IRI (Р<0.05), PTH (Р<0.05), TSH (Р<0.05), Т3 (Р<0.05), ТхВ2 (Р<0.05), PgF2α (Р<0.01) and reduction of PgI2 (Р<0.001). Direct correlations of systolic index with Т4, PgЕ2, PgI2 (P<0.05) and indirect with IRI, ТхВ2, PgF2α (P<0.05) were revealed. Conclusions. After radon baths treatment relations between parameters of neurohumoral profile and hemodynamics approached that of subjects without heart diseases; regulatory effect of pressor prostanoids and insulin was reduced.
