The review presents new data about depression, the most common mental disorder accompanying chronic heart failure. Epidemiological aspects and risk factors influencing this process are discussed. The main mechanisms of the development of this disease are autonomic nervous system and hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal system dysfunction, hyperproduction of the inflammatory markers, increased platelet reactivity, etc. Clinical features, methods of the diagnosis and treatment are disclosed.
