V.N. Kramareva Endothelial function in essential hypertension patients with different levels of cardiovascular risk

We evaluated levels of tissue plasminogen activator, type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor and Von Willebrand factor (vWF) activity in 59 essential hypertension (EH) patients aged 27–69 years. Twenty patients (group one) had low or moderate additional cardiovascular risk, 39 patients (group two) – high or very high cardiovascular risk. The following parameters were analyzed: antigen and activity of tissue plasminogen activator, level of type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor and vWF activity. Levels of antigen and activity of tissue plasminogen activator was increased compared to control in patients of the 1st group. Antigen of tissue plasminogen activator, type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor and vWF activity were increased, while activity of tissue plasminogen activator was suppressed in EH patients of the 2nd group. Correction of these disorders leads to pronounced lowering of high hypercoagulation risk in EH patients.
