Currently echocardiography is most often used for studying the structure and function of left ventricle and the definition of peculiarities of its remodeling in patients with cardiovascular diseases. There are many
echocardiographic techniques used to obtain data about the status of left heart, but most of them are based on one- or two-dimensional visualization modes of heart that have certain drawbacks and limitations. Advanced
technical innovations made possible the development and introduction into medical practice the new diagnostic method of analysis of heart – a three-dimensional echocardiography. The possibility of three-dimensional
echocardiography in assessment of left ventricle is discussed in the article and the comparison with other modern methods of imaging of the heart is provided. Particular attention is paid to the definition of asynchronous activity of myocardium that is an important predictor and factor of the development and progression of left ventricular dysfunction.
