The purpose of the work was to study left ventricular remodeling and serum levels of C-reactive protein, transforming growth factor Β, hepatocyte growth factor in early postinfarction period. We examined 75 patients in 1 month after myocardial infarction and 42 patients with stable angina pectoris without history of myocardial infarction. It has been revealed that the early postinfarction period is characterized by left ventricular dilatation and reduced left ventricular pump function. Serum levels of C-reactive protein, hepatocyte growth factor and transforming growth factor Β were increased in all postinfarction subjects. It has been shown that the levels of hepatocyte growth factor and transforming growth factor Β negatively correlated with size of left ventricle and positively correlated with left ventricular ejection fraction in one month after myocardial infarction.
