S.V. Fedkiv Discovery of postinfarction pulmonary and thrombotic complications by x-ray and multislice spiral computed tomography

We studied possibilities of beam diagnostic techniques of cardiac imaging, including: chest radiography and multislice computed tomography (MSСT) to identify lung changes in patients with ischemic heart disease and in
postinfarction period. The results of X-ray of thorax were studied in 190 patients (173 men and 27 women), among them 61 after myocardial infarction. In 44 (23.2 %) patients we found radiographic signs of lung
congestion, among them 27 patients earlier suffered myocardial infarction. In 13 (6.8 %) clinical data and chest radiography raised suspicion of thrombotic complication – pulmonary embolism. In 7 (3.7 %) patients MSСT
verified diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. X-ray is most reasonable and economically justified at the first stage of detection of lung changes in patients with ischemic heart disease. MSСT makes possible to confirm the
results of X-ray of thorax and to evaluate accurately presence of pathological changes of lung and pulmonary vessels.
