We studied the effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors at endothelial function, thickness of intimamedia of carotid arteries, tolerance to physical load and echocardiographic indices in 120 patients with acute myocardial infarction, in 3 and 6 months after onset of the disease. The patients of 1st group received enalapril in addition to basic therapy, the patients of 2nd group – perindopril and the patients of 3rd group did not receive ACE inhibitors. We found the relationship between disturbances of lipid metabolism, activity of systemic inflammation and intensity of oxidant stress, endothelial function, thickness of intima-media of carotid arteries, exercise tolerance and echocardiographic indices. It was established the positive influence of ACE inhibitors, especially perindopril, at above-mentioned parameters in early post infarction period, compared to those who did not receive these pharmacological agents.
